Melt Proof Your Makeup This Summer

Summer isn’t the most breezy time to wear makeup, runny eyeliner and lipstick are just a few troubles we tend to go through.  With temperatures rising daily in Pakistan, most of us tend to suffer from oil-prone skin and sweat. It’s always best to stick with the essentials but for certain occasions that calls for a full face makeup look, keeping your makeup fresh and sweat-resistant only requires a few extra steps.  Keep these tips in mind for a melt-proof makeup application.

Eyeliner:

As much as we love rich black eyeliner, biggest problem we face during the summer heat is our kajal staying in place. Tip: Set your eyeliner with Carbon Black Eye Ink, using a matte eye shadow with an angled eyeliner brush and press the powder on top of your black eyeliner. This mattifies and sets cream eyeliners and liquid liners to prevent any moisture from feathering and bleeding.

Waterproof Liners and Mascara:

You can never go wrong with using waterproof eye makeup. The best mascara to prevent smudging and flaking of your lashes is the 100% Waterproof Mascara. Liquid liners are the best option for a crisp, clean eyeliner during the summer. Opt for waterproof liquid liners such as the Pro Dip and Graphique for long-wearing.

Lipstick:

Tip: Never skip out on wearing Lip Artist Lip Liner for bright lip colors, this will prevent your lipstick from feathering and bleeding.
Tip: Blot excess moisture from your lipstick to prevent it from melting past your lip line. Take a tissue and apply it on top of your lips then use your pressed powder on a puff and press it against the tissue.  This will mattify your lipstick preventing it from bleeding or feathering while also giving you long-wearing lip color.

Face Powder:

The best way for a complete sweat-proof flawless face, never skip on a pressed powder. Pair your foundation with Invincible for a sweat-proof summer. The Invincible Pressed Powder not only minimizes the appearance of pores while also preventing oil build up on your t zone. Tip: Apply your pressed powder by pressing and rolling it on your nose, forehead and chin.

Foundation and your Skin Type

Evaluating your skin type is essential when selecting the right foundation. Figuring out which category your skin type falls under will help you select the ideal foundation that is suitable for your skin to achieve a flawless complexion.

Skin alters in texture throughout seasons. With the weather changing our skin is more prone to flaking and dry patches. Keep in mind for the colder season your skin requires more hydration since the dry weather produces less natural oil, applying moisturizer before any foundation will help distribute the product evenly onto the skin. For more information and tips on foundation for Fall/Winter season read our previous post

                Three basic skin types:

                                • Normal/Combination
                                • Oily
                                • Dry
To determine your skin type, use a simple test with a clean tissue in the morning right after you wake up since your skin is in its natural state. Blot the tissue on key areas of your face such as the nose and forehead.

                Normal/Combination Skin Type
                                • Smooth texture with light oil build up around nose
                                • Tissue Test: Small traces of oil around nose and forehead
                Oily Skin Type
                                • Shiny/greasy with enlarged pores around the nose. Skin prone t0 acne spots.
                                • Tissue Test: Large spots of oil on nose, chin and forehead.
                Dry Skin Type
                                • Tight skin texture and prone to dry patches.
                                • Tissue Test: Flaky, itchy and tight skin.

Foundation Tips for Fall

The chilly and windy Fall season brings plenty of skin problems, from dry skin to flakey patches. Our skin becomes paler and more prone to dead skin cells on the surface. When it comes to foundation, these skin issues can become more visible with the change in our skin’s texture. Taking extra care of our skin should be considered to prevent these issues for better foundation applications. To get your skin Fall ready for foundation, it’s essential to keep in mind a few extra steps before application.

Preparing your skin for foundation will ensure the longest wear with your makeup without looking cakey or chalky on your skin.  Here are a few tips to keep in mind for your Fall skin care routine.

Tip #1: Exfoliate your skin.

The low humidity and harsh winds changes the texture of our skin. It’s important to scuff off any dead skin cells to prevent dry and flaky patches. Use a gentle exfoliant twice a week to scrub off the outer layer of skin. For a DIY at home exfoliant use a mixture of olive oil and sugar, since some types of sugar is coarse use a light hand when exfoliating.

Tip #2: Moisturize

Moderation is key in preparing your skin for foundation, you don’t want to apply a thick layer of moisturizer before you apply foundation. Apply a thin layer enough to smooth and hydrate your skin. Let the moisturizer sink in for about 5-10 minutes, after which take a tissue and blot off any excess moisture to prevent any oil build up.

When it comes to selecting your Fall foundation, keep in mind the change in texture and skin tone. If you skin tone has become paler, mix a slightly darker shade into your regular foundation to produce the perfect shade. The Matt Perfection Foundation Compact is a cream to powder formula perfect for combination to oily skin types. The compact comes with a sponge applicator for an even coverage foundation.

For dry skin types, choose a hydrating foundation which will add moisture to your skin. The Pro Luminous Foundation is ideal for medium coverage with a slightly dewy finish. The added UVA/UVB protection aids in preventing sun damage.

Coral Cheeks and Lips for the Summer

Bold lips are in season but if you aren't sure if the trend of a bright fuchsia pink pout is your style then you can surely try a coral lip to hop into summer! There is a variety of different hues of orange that you can pull off. If true orange isn't your style then opt for a more apricot shade of blush that has more pink undertones than orange. An apricot shade will give a warming effect on the complexion for the perfect summer glow.
Pro Blush - Audacious Orange

For a quick natural coral makeup apply Pro Blush in Audacious Orange the same shade on your cheeks and eyes, lightly brush the color on the lids and blend it out.

Color Rush Lipstick – Vixen
Apply a bright coral blush on the cheeks then dust the remainder of the product onto your temple and hairline. Pair the look with a soft coral lipstick such as Color Rush Lipstick in Vixen. Finish off with a Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner in Coco, run the liner along the top and lower lash line to define your eyes. This can bring a stark contrast to the pale look.

Sunset Inspired Look

Eye Ink - Gold Dust
Try out a look using peaches, corals and shades of gold, this has been used all over the red carpet this season. With a pale coral lip, peach blush and matching shimmery gold shadow on the brow bone call for a glamorous look, use Eye Ink in Gold Dust . For a slight hint of color add Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner in Fabulous on the lower lash line for a burst of color!

Bring some shine to your lips with a complementing gloss that has a gold tone for a warm tropical tint that will suit every complexion. Intensify your lip color with a full and glossy lip by dapping a bright gold gloss on the center, try Lip Glaze - Night Out. Pick the right Lipstick for the Season!

Sana is Wearing Color Studio Pro Lip Artist - Rasberry and Color Studio Pro Color Rush Lipstick- Bombshell

Summer brings out the brightest shades for the year! The shades we pick are vibrant and bolder while keeping the rest of our face neutral. Consider bright pinks and cherry reds to perk up your look. If you want to keep it low key then downplay the bright lip by lightly dapping the color all over your lip for a stain. Go for deep rosy shades for a natural look.
Color Rush Lipstick - Bomb Shell

Finding a lipstick that flatters your skin tone begins by choosing which finish suits you. Lipsticks come in a variety of finishes from matte, sheer, glossy or satin. Matte or semi-matte finish lipsticks are the longest wearing, applying it on top of a lip liner will keep your lipstick on for hours. Creamy or glossy finish lipsticks tend to only wear about 2 hours because of the texture.

Color Rush Lipstick - Knock Out

Let’s not forget to tie in the endless amount of shades out there! Finding the perfect shade of lipstick can be amped up with a different color lip liner or gloss.

Chose a lipstick shade that is 2 shades darker than your natural lip color will suit any look. To define your lips, apply a dark lip liner will bring a more dramatic touch to your look. Wearing lipstick as a stain on your lips is perfect for a daytime look.

Picking the right shouldn't be a tough task! With the perfect pout enjoy the summer season!
