Top Tips for Red Lips

Wearing red lipstick can be a bit tricky especially for beginners. Red is always an in-trend shade of lipstick all year around. From bright coral reds (Color Rush Lipstick Jet Setter) to deep burgundy reds (Color Rush Lipstick in Drop Dead Gorgeous), there is a shade of red for every skin tone and occasion.

For a daytime red, choose a sheer application of lipstick. This can be done by lightly dabbing the lipstick and blending it out with your finger for a soft red lip. If you find that the shade of red lipstick doesn’t compliment your skin tone, apply a gold or bronze shade of lipgloss for a warmer shade.

Avoid using a red lip liner if the shade red lipstick doesn’t match the lip liner since you will end up with a different shade of red on your lips. Instead find the shade of lip liner that matches your natural lip color and apply it all over your lips. A lip liner will keep your red lipstick from feathering after long hours since red lipstick needs to look tidy on the lips otherwise the mess will look unpleasant.

Avoid lipstick on your teeth.
After applying your lipstick, put your finger in your mouth, purse your lips around it, then slowly pull it out to remove excess color.

Use a lip brush. For precise application, using a brush to apply your lipstick will give a clean outline without over application of product. Using a lip brush will also prevent your lipstick from bleeding outside your lip line.

Application:
  • Start with a lip liner that matches your natural lip shade. Apply the liner inside your natural lip line for a flattering look.
  • Apply the lipstick on the center of your lip either with a lip brush or directly from the stick then blend the lipstick outward to the rest of your lips. Start with a thin layer or lipstick and gradually build up to your desired color.

Graphique Liquid Liner- Tips and Tricks

For an ultra-precise eyeliner application, the Color Studio Professional Graphique 100% waterproof Eye liner comes with a brush tip applicator ideal for a defined eyeliner. The quick drying formula is ideal for a long wearing, smudge-resistant, waterproof eyeliner look. The precision applicator works perfectly to create a sharp cat-eyeliner for a clean and edgy look.

A classic eyeliner can easily accentuate your eye shape, whether you have small hooded lids or large set eyes. Eyeliner can work wonders on your eye shape. With different types of liners to choose from, a brush tip liquid liner can create a crisp and defined eyeliner.

Applying liquid liner can be tricky if you’ve never used it. Since a brush tip applicator requires a steady hand, it’s a good idea to test it a few times before you head out the door. Practicing in front of a well-lit mirror will help you create a sharp, crisp line. The easiest way to apply a straight line is by creating short flicks and then gradually connecting the lines.

Tips and Tricks:

  • To keep your hand steady, rest your thumb on your cheekbone while your elbow is positioned on a flat surface.
  • For smaller eyes, allow the liquid liner to dry for a few seconds before opening your eyes.
  • Use a lighted magnifying mirror for an ultra-precise eyeliner application. Look straight ahead keeping your eyes open naturally will accurately make both eyes similar.
  • For a cat eyeliner look, start by applying a thin line close to your upper lashes making sure to stop right before the outer corner of your eyes. Gradually make an outer flick diagonally.
  • To clean off any mistakes take a cotton bud and smooth out the outer edges.
  • Your eyeliner should not exceed past the end of your eyebrow

Graphique Eye Liner by Color Studio Professional is available in 2 shades.
  • Jet Black is an intense rich matte black shade
  • Black Pearl is a shimmery black shade with tiny glitter specks.

Foundation and your Skin Type

Evaluating your skin type is essential when selecting the right foundation. Figuring out which category your skin type falls under will help you select the ideal foundation that is suitable for your skin to achieve a flawless complexion.

Skin alters in texture throughout seasons. With the weather changing our skin is more prone to flaking and dry patches. Keep in mind for the colder season your skin requires more hydration since the dry weather produces less natural oil, applying moisturizer before any foundation will help distribute the product evenly onto the skin. For more information and tips on foundation for Fall/Winter season read our previous post

                Three basic skin types:

                                • Normal/Combination
                                • Oily
                                • Dry
To determine your skin type, use a simple test with a clean tissue in the morning right after you wake up since your skin is in its natural state. Blot the tissue on key areas of your face such as the nose and forehead.

                Normal/Combination Skin Type
                                • Smooth texture with light oil build up around nose
                                • Tissue Test: Small traces of oil around nose and forehead
                Oily Skin Type
                                • Shiny/greasy with enlarged pores around the nose. Skin prone t0 acne spots.
                                • Tissue Test: Large spots of oil on nose, chin and forehead.
                Dry Skin Type
                                • Tight skin texture and prone to dry patches.
                                • Tissue Test: Flaky, itchy and tight skin.

Color Rush lipsticks come is 18 bold and glamorous shades.

How lip colors work:

As a rule of thumb, brighter colors will make lips look a lot more fuller where as darker lip colors will make lips look thinner. Choosing the right color depends not only on your skin tone but also on the shape of your lips.

Matching Lipsticks to your skin tone (Do’s and Don’ts):

Fair Skin - Pinks, nudes and brighter reds, will help emphasize your porcelain features, darker colors on the other hand are most likely to dull down your skin tone.

Medium Skin – Medium skin tones especially with brown undertones should rely on pink lip colors where as those with a medium olive complexion may use shades of brown. Those with medium skin tones should avoid using anything too dull or pale. Shades such as rich plums, reds and bright orange are perfect for women with a yellow skin tone.

Warm Skin – Use a lipstick of a darker shade than your skin; cherry reds, maroons and orange reds.

Pro Luminous Foundation-- Product Info and Swatches

The Pro Luminous Foundation was the first foundation to be launched by the brand a few months back. Perfect for the humid summer weather in Pakistan, the liquid foundation is ideal for protecting your skin from harmful sun-rays and photo-aging. The Paraben Free, FDA approved formula is gentle enough to use daily as an effective treatment to prevent fine line and wrinkles.

The formula is a liquid consistency that applies easily on the skin with the use of your fingers. The light to medium coverage provides UVA and UVB to protect from ultraviolet sun rays. UVA and UVB both penetrate the skin deeply to reduce skin wrinkling and other aspects of photoaging. Using SPF 15 block 93% of UVB rays which causes negative side to the skin.

Packaging-

Pro Luminous Foundation comes in an squeeze tube packaging. The opening of the bottle is small enough for the liquid consistency to easily dispense out.

Application Guide-

To use the Pro Luminous Foundation, the light consistency will easily blend into the skin using only your fingers or a foundation brush. Simply dab dots on your nose, cheeks, chin, the center of the forehead with your fingers and blend it out. Avoid spots and streaks by evenly spreading the product on to the skin.
For added coverage apply a second layer of foundation. Make sure that your face and neck are the same color and blended out into your hairline and jaw line.
